Hop and barley growers are the primary suppliers of the beer industry. Their raw products are processed before entering the beer making process, including malting of barley and other grains, and drying of "wet" hops.

The process of beer follows the order of; malting, milling, mashing, brewing, cooling, fermentation, maturation, filtration, pasturisation, and finally packaging. Malting occurs off site as it is generally done by the growers to ensure a quality product. There are two different methods for brewing for small and large scale brewing, which ferment in different ways.

Beer is primarily produced as an output in the form of barrels or bottles. By-products of the production of beer include spent grain, trub, and excess yeast.

Customers Director

Customers of the beer industry include supermarkets, alcohol retailers, restaurants, and the export market. The consumer market is then reached through these different retail areas, with minimal direct sales to consumers.
