Risks of a new filtration method

Too expensive initially - Many parts of this solution require some level of investment, such as the initial research and the building of a factory for production. If companies don’t want to make this investment it would significantly delay all parts of this solution. However the solution and benefits would be explained fully to the investors and therefore this isn’t very likely.

No support from industry - This ties in with the risk that it would be too expensive for the industry. The current techniques are accepted industry wide and work within the current machinery, so the changes may not be accepted by the industry. The solution would be fully explained, along with the benefits and risks which would hopefully encourage the industry to accept this solution, which would lead to a relatively low risk.

Negative customer reaction - A negative customer reaction is possible with any new change introduced in any industry. While the costs for this solution are already rather high, an extensive advertising campaign would improve the overall interest in the product and therefore hopefully drive sales higher. This leaves a relatively low risk of the product having a negative customer reaction.
